Alyssa N. Cary, LVT
Elite Fear Free Certified Professional
Puppy Start Right Preschool Instructor
I have been a devoted, unapologetic animal lover since I was a tiny tot. I’ve had pets my whole life and my favorite childhood pastime was rescuing wildlife (or at least attempting to). I earned a B.S. in Wildlife Science from Virginia Tech in 2011, got married and moved to my husband’s hometown in Charles County, and briefly considered vet school before settling on vet tech school. Four years into my veterinary career I earned my license and became both a licensed veterinary technician and practice manager in 2015. Over the course of my career, my interests in behavior and pain management have grown stronger with continued education. My desire to have a more far-reaching impact and my chaotic home life led me to create Positive Paws, and I couldn’t be more excited to begin this journey!
Physical and mental health are so important for humans and animals alike, and my mission is to help families find that balance. I think a lot of people can relate to the struggle of a chaotic, over-scheduled home life. In this area, many of us commute to work across state lines and spend our precious time battling traffic and aggressive drivers. I am here to empathize with you and provide the attention your pet deserves while you are away - and trust me, my own fur kids know the feeling of being somewhat neglected while the family is away all day working, playing sports, running errands, etc. I have 3 fur kids: Chloe and Pixie, my tortie cats; and Mak, my Mama’s Boy, my running buddy. I also have 2 human kids, one of whom is about to start kindergarten and another who is competing for Mak’s position as Mama’s Boy.
Another passion of mine? Building meaningful relationships with people and providing positive energy to help people live their best lives. I love talking to people and I would love to meet you! Please contact me for a free in-home consultation so we can discuss your pet’s needs and any concerns you may have. Thanks for considering Positive Paws for your pet’s care!
